Get your hand outta that candy bowl…

It’s Halloween… temptation abounds!MPj03829530000[1]

I don’t know about you, but I can be a sucker for a 3 Musketeer’s bar… or a snickers. Those are my favorites when I need a fix – hey, a girl can’t be a health nut all the time, right?

This time of year, if you’ve got kids, or live in a neighborhood with kids, chances are, you’ve got extra candy in the house.

How do you keep from packing in the junk and packing on the pounds?

Let me help with these quick tips:

1. Hide the stuff. Out of site, out of mind. And I’m not talkin’ about putting it way back in the pantry, or in a different drawer in the kitchen. I’m talkin’ put it in a brown paper grocery bag and put it somewhere you may actually forget about it.

I’ll sometimes stash mine on an upper shelf in our coat closet. Sure, you’ll remember it’s there – but it won’t be right in your face every time you set foot in the kitchen.

2. When you have the urge to indulge, eat a piece of fruit and drink some water first. This will help fill you up a little bit. And, while you’re scarfing down that fruit, you can tell yourself how awesome you are for not just grabbing a handful of M&M’s.While you’re having that fruit, tell yourself all sorts of nice things about you. And hey, if after the fruit and water you still want the M&M’s, go for it – but I’ll bet you’ll indulge a little less.

3. Get rid of it. Take it to work. Give it to hubby to take to work – whatever. I know this may seem like you’re pushing these indulgences on someone else, but hey – that’s on them to keep it in check ;)

LOL Yvonne – now that was the opposite reaction of what I was hoping for!

Although – little confession – when I picked the photo for this post, I did crave candy corn for a second or two ;)
