Here in PA fall is definitely in the air. The leaves are turning, the air is crisping… harvest is upon us. This is a shot of Drew and Maddie  picking apples at our local orchard last fall.

With the change in seasons, my body craves different foods. When the seasons change, it’s totally normal for your body to start craving different foods. Our bodies get us ready for cooler or warmer weather by asking us to make different food choices.

In the fall, it’s food that’s warming, earthier, and comforting.

Here are a few yummy snack ideas with a fall feel:

Warm Apple Cider & Ginger Snaps – Noting beats a mug of warm apple cider on a crisp fall afternoon. At about 220 calories for 6 oz. of cider and 3 ginger snaps, this sweet, comfy indulgence won’t cost you a caloric fortune.

Warmed Apple with Raisins and NutsSimply cut up an apple (I like the tart granny smiths), put it in a bowl with a bit of cinnamon, microwave it for about 20 to 30 seconds, toss in some raisins and crushed almonds, mix it up – YUM. Nuts give you a bit of fat and protein, the apple gives you filling fiber – it’s a delicious, filling treat.

Pumpkin Granola Parfait – This one, I found the other day on Fitness Magazine’s web site. I love love love Pumpkin and this simple recipe is delicious. It’s made with canned pumpkin and yogurt – super easy to put together. It’s like a little bit of Thanksgiving dinner early.

What are your favorite fall treats? Do share!
