How do you stay motivated to exercise when you just feel like hibernating?![MPj04442120000[1] MPj04442120000[1]](http://jgivlerfitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/MPj044421200001-200x300.jpg)
This is a question I was asking myself the other day. I’ve been doing really great with my workouts – staying on track, staying focused… but I noticed that my motivation was starting to wane a bit.
I found myself asking “what am I doing all this for anyway??”
And then it hit me… I feel like all my hard work is just being hidden under layers of clothing – piles of cotton pants, mountains of big baggy sweatshirts…
It’s so cold here in PA, you can’t walk out of the house without a parka on. Well, ok, maybe it’s not THAT cold…
Big reminder: Sweatshirt/Sweatpant weather won’t last forever!
Are you ready to feel comfortable in T-shirts and shorts? And what about – dare I say it – a bathing suit?!?
I know it’s only February, but before you know it, the weather will be warmer. There is no magic pill, no instantly-thin diet.
Getting and staying in shape takes consistency and commitment.
Stick with it now, and be ready to bear the fruits of your labor as soon as the weather breaks!
Monday Meditative Jumpstart:
Imagine it’s the first warm day of the season – you know – that day when it hits about 65 for the first time. The air smells fresh, the sky is beautiful, the sun is just the right kind of bright… how are you going to feel? Excited to get out and enjoy the weather or fretful because you realize the warm weather is here, and you don’t feel physically prepared?
If you’re feeling uninspired by your fitness program, take some time to think about why that might be. Why not try on some warm weather clothes and see how that makes you feel about your fitness routine. If you’re still feeling bored, it’s time to try something new. Why not hire a trainer to write you a new program, or introduce you to some new exercise styles (I know a good one ;) ). Try a class, recruit a friend… there is a multitude of things you can do to reignite that flame.
Want to share?
I’d love to hear what you’ve done in the past to re-inspire your fitness routine. Why not post a comment – you may just inspire someone else!
